The latest version, the 2010 Incoterms, takes us from 13 Incoterms in 2000, to 11 Incoterms in 2010. In order to help you understand the issues associated with choosing one of the 2000 Incoterms, we provide a practical definition.

An Incoterms is the abbreviation for "International Commercial TERMS." The Incoterms allow for the creation of a rules framework guiding the ins and outs of goods transportation, from loading through delivery.

Each Incoterm takes into account 13 criteria including insurance, packaging, main transport, loading and unloading costs, customs duties and import/export fees. The Incoterms are identical in all countries.

The year 2000 Incoterms identify the point at which risks and costs are transferred. An overview and a table of Incoterms ® is provided to help you to understand all their subtleties.
