The Incoterms © FCA 2000 is an Incoterm © with the main transport "not paid" by the exporter.

The Incoterms © FCA 2000 is an "main carriage unpaid" Incoterms ©.

The Incoterms © FCA 2000 is used for all modes of transport

6-17-1- Summary

The importer chooses the transport mode and carrier, and pays for main transport. The transfer of risks and costs from the exporter to the importer takes place with the carrier’s possession of the goods (this can occur on the exporter's premises). In instances where delivery is carried out on the exporter's premises, the exporter is responsible for goods loading. In other instances, the exporter is not liable for the loading of the goods.

6-17-2- From the viewpoint of the importer

The importer chooses the carrier for both the main and post-shipment transports, and he pays the costs. As indicated on the table, the costs and risks begin when the carrier obtains possession of the goods. The goods must be delivered the location designated by the Incoterms © (i.e. FCA "seller's premises").

6-17-3- Advantages for the importer

The importer is responsible for delivery operations, excluding packaging, which is advantageous due to the exporter’s familiarity with companies specializing in packaging for export. This operation will be carried out in a professional manner, free of errors.

6-17-4- From the viewpoint of the exporter

As indicated in the table of costs and risks, the first costs incurred by the exporter are the packaging costs. The "pre-shipment carriage" is also incurred by the exporter. The exporter is responsible for import customs clearance.

6-17-5- Advantages for the exporter

The exporter is only responsible for transport up to the port, airport or logistics platform. The exporter does not assume any liability regarding transport after pre-shipment routing and customs clearance. The exporter only deals with native customs clearance. The Incoterms © FCA is used when there exists a strong knowledge of local operations in the exporter’s country.

6-17-6- The point of ownership transfer: at the designated location

This Incoterms © fosters good business relationships, as the two stakeholders both specify the location of and confirm the delivery
