DAT, Delivered At Terminal, is one of the 11 Incoterms © 2010.
It has no equivalent in the Incoterms © s 2000. It is a new Incoterm ©.
The exporter is responsible for transport costs up until the destination in the DAT Incoterms © 2010.
The Incoterms © DAT 2010 is a "sales on arrival" Incoterm ©.
The Incoterms © DAT 2010 is used for a multimodal transport.
6-24-1- Summary
The exporter makes the goods available to the importer at a specified port, ready for the specified mode of transport (delivery truck, etc.).
The exporter must provide, however, a goods recovery document.
The exporter is not obligated to take out insurance.
The different between the Incoterms © DAT and the Incoterms © DAP lies in the place of delivery.
6-24-2- From the viewpoint of the importer
The importer takes responsibility for import customs clearance and post-transport.
The importer must retrieve the delivered goods, then inform the exporter of all safety rules required for export.
6-24-3- Advantages for the importer
The importer is responsible for the goods in its own country.
Extensive knowledge of its country's transport logistics leads to beneficial price-points.
Similarly, a dependable freight forwarder ensures customs clearance without complications and quality service.
6-24-4- From the viewpoint of the exporter
The exporter is responsible for packaging.
The exporter is responsible for goods delivery up to the terminal (dock, warehouse, or road terminal).
The goods are cleared for export by the exporter.
6-24-5- Advantages for the exporter
The exporter moves the goods from the factory, crosses the border and delivers to the named destination.
